The Microsoft Vista Sidebar Newsfeed Gadget Print E-mail

 

This technique uses the Microsoft Vista Newsfeed Gadget to display RSS feeds you have already saved in Internet Explorer onto your desktop.  Therefore you need to prepare by using the instructions for Internet Explorer 7 Newsfeeds (click here)

If you have Microsoft Vista (the latest Windows operating system) you may have noticed the sidebar on your desktop.  Look under the Clock gadget and the picture gadget for the view headlines RSS icon.

1. Click on it and assuming you are online it will fill with automated headlines from MSN.

 

2. Right click over the headlines and select Options.  A Feed Headlines box will come up showing that you are currently displaying All feeds.

 

Click on the pull down and select the particular feed you want to single out.

 

Then click the OK button.

 

3. Now look at the feed gadget.

It will rotate around the headlines updating them automatically as they change.
