Braughing Community Website
The Brief
The village website for Braughing needed a simple way that many individuals could keep the News, Events Calendar, Parish Council Minutes, Local Organisations up to date.  They wanted a website that did not rely on one technical web designer to do all the publishing.  The website should also serve as an interactive forum where visitors can post up items for discussion, for sale, wanted and even upload photos into the gallery.

The Solution www.braughing.org.uk

This website allows any number of people to REGISTER

Registered people can: Add an Event to the Events Calendar and Suggest a Link for the Links page.  These are not public until they have been approved by the webmaster (who receives an automated notification for each posting by email)

Registered people can ask for Author access so they can also:

  • Add to News
  • Add to History
  • Add a Local Organisation

No programming skill is needed, keeping the website up to date is a simple as writing an email.  An interactive Forum allows visitors to leave messages in the guestbook, Topics for Discussion, Items for Sale or Wanted.  These messages are moderated by three people via automated emails.  The Braughing Website was a major contribution towards the village winning the Hertfordshire IT Village of the year competition in 2004.
